Duérmete Niño

Monster Mash

Written by Freddy Chávez and Victor Osuna, Duérmete Niño is a highly-awarded horror short that gives audiences a terrifying glimpse into a new dark and intriguing supernatural universe.

The short is full of stunning practical and CG effects, a seamless marriage of the two as the perfect testament to Chavez’s deep understanding and love of both.

Kalos Studios was brought in to tackle the one minute long opening title shot. With Chávez’s vision as a guide, we post-visualized the camera animation, FX simulations, and ensured a seamless transition from the title to the film. We also captured the dense, high-resolution mesh of the hero crucifix for a full CG replacement, handing it off for lighting, shading and compositing by Barnstorm VFX Vancouver. It was an inspiring example of studios creatively supporting a talented director to bring a new voice to horror.
